Sometimes you really need a vacation, time to relax but also be inspired. The Lavender Lifestyle Tour is designed for you to settle into your luxury B&B, savor the tastes of the markets, the regional wines, & local olive oil. A time to connect with the slow Provençal lifestyle and the people who will share their craft, art and story with you. Of course we don’t stop there because the lavender is in full bloom. Explore lavender fields where earth meets sky, the lavender rolling up hills with Medieval villages in the background, and off-the-beaten-path spots for getting pictures showing secret Provence. Time to get away to let your senses be renewed.

Lavender lifestyle tour featuring lavender fields in full bloom

Tour Notes

The B&B is situated in the Luberon region, surrounded by vineyards and the scrubland forests.  Evening strolls on the grounds are dreamy.  The pool, summer kitchen, the comfort of your room and terrace…all is inviting you to unwind and live the Provencal lifestyle.

The tour takes place during the peak of lavender blooming. We will have lavender fields on every route and many opportunities for pictures in both the popular spots and also the more secret spots.

Itinerary

NOTE: This is a working itinerary; the final itinerary will be posted and provided to guests closer to the tour date.

Day 1 (Monday, June 28)
Saint Paul de Mausole

Pick-up around 10:30 at the Avignon TGV train station (or at your Avignon hotel should you arrive the day before).  We kick off the week of slow travel and inspiration at the vibrant sound & light show at Carrières de Lumière.  Here music and art will surround you in the former rock quarry.  Then on to tracing the footsteps of Van Gogh near Saint Remy with a memorable catered picnic lunch in a vineyard.  Before leaving this Alpilles region, we’ll visit the former asylum where Van Gogh lived for one year.  We’ll arrive at our « heaven on earth » B&B in the Luberon around 4 pm.  Relaxing time to take in the beautiful estate and settle into a magical week in Provence.  Dinner outing at former farm house turned into a charming restaurant – on the way, a magical lavender field for photos.

Picnic Lunch & Dinner included

Day 2 (Tuesday, June 29)
top ten places to visit in provence

It’s market day in a nearby village called Saint Saturnin Les Apts.  The morning is yours to enjoy at your leisure with market shopping, exploring the castle ruins, or perhaps a little photography to capture this idyllic Provencal setting.  Then we move across the valley to a Luberon AOC winery for a tour revealing both the historical anecdotes and the aromas.  Catered lunch at the winery.  The later afternoon is yours to soak up the luxury atmosphere at the B&B.  Our dinner outing is in the charming hilltop village Bonnieux, where we will wind our way down the small lanes to our evening dinner experience…I say “experience” as this Michelin star gem, tucked away in a small village, will leave you with a story to tell and savors to remember.

Winery lunch & dinner included

Day 3 (Wednesday, June 30)
lavender ice cream

Our first village today is Roussillon.  Here we’ll explore the ochre rich lands learning about the industry that shaped the village and landscape.  Then we make our climb to the High Provence Lavender region.  At the crest, we stop for lunch at a rustic farm restaurant for a home cooked meal.  Our drive continues on in the High Provence lavender region taking us to a lavender farm where we will learn more about the production, different products and types of lavender.  Sault is the lavender capital of Provence, and before our descent back down to the Luberon, we’ll make a stop in the village for ice-cream at one of Provence’s oldest confectionary shops (known for its nougat since 1887).  This evening, enjoy the grounds of the B&B with an alfresco dinner poolside (pizza, veggies, local spreads, fruit tart).

Countryside bistro lunch & alfresco dinner at the B&B

Day 4 (Thursday, July 1)
Abbaye de Senanque

It’s prime time for tasting summer truffles and this morning we have an appointment with a truffle hunter and his dogs.  This is educational, fun, and oh so gourmet (did I mention all you want champagne?!).  The charming village Lourmarin isn’t far and we’ll be sure to talk about the powerful lords who ruled here and built their Renaissance chateau.  R&R later afternoon back at our B&B until our dinner outing.  This evening we go to Gordes (after the mass of tourists have left)…photos at the iconic Abbaye de Senanque and then into the village Gordes, time to wander, wine & dine with a spectacular view of the Luberon valley.

Truffle hunt tasting & Dinner included

Day 5 (Friday, July 2)
Oppede-le-Vieux

Our gourmet activity today is around olive oil. We leave the Luberon mountains, cross the river valley, and nestle up close the Alpilles mountains.  We will be greeted by a team of passionate olive oil masters, going out in the groves with the 4x4s and embarking on a heavenly tasting of different oils paired with food. We have a light lunch, aperitif style, at an artist’s workshop.  This beautiful workshop, inspiring art, a heartwarming story of an artist who adopted Provence as her home, gets us ready for our own art story – Saturday’s painting adventure!  Before heading back to the B&B for a lovely catered dinner by a top chef, we’ll explore the charming village Oppede-le-Vieux.

Lunch & Dinner included

Day 6 (Saturday, July 3)
Lavender painting

This morning we put our lavender inspiration to the canvas.  We will be led by a local artist to do a lavender painting…no experience necessary.  Next, we journey on to the quaint town of L’Isle Sur la Sorgue.  Legends and a rich industrial heritage with water canals winding through makes this place unique in Provence.   Lunch next to the river at an épicerie (local spreads, cheeses, charcuterie and salad).  Free time after lunch to boutique shop (antique shops and other quality Provencal products).  Back at the B&B, enjoy time at the pool to cool off or to do your packing (yes, tomorrow is departure day).  Our farewell dinner takes us to one last village, Goult.

Lunch & dinner included

five star review
"Emily's Lavender and Photography Tour is, as stated, a private, and I would say INTIMATE, experience in Provence.  From the first evening in L'Isle sur la Sorgue everything about the tour is carefully crafted to create a sense that one has become "at home" in Provence.  The accommodations at the converted stone farmhouse are comfortable and well appointed, creating an intimacy that speaks of "part of the family."  In addition to breathtaking venues for photography, each day provided a creative…"
""For my first time in Provence I decided to hire a guide. It’s not something I normally do but I didn’t want to be bothered with driving and trying to find my way on my own. I didn’t want to waste precious time because I had so little there. We had several conversations via email in advance of my visit about what my interests are and what I wanted to get out of my time with her. Emily showed me some wonderful places for photos and a little off the beaten path Abbey that was a lovely way to e…"
""You are the sweetest and we enjoyed getting to know you. You are also a trooper – spending a week with a rowdy group like ours must not have been an easy task:). You did it, girl!" Tatiana "In addition to the email from Tatiana, I want to thank you for your kindness and sweetness and patience in making our honeymoon so very special.  You are a sheer delight." Miles "Tireless, warm, funny, delightful, lovely….I will run out of juice on my iPhone before I run out of adjective…"
"The Truffles, Wine, and Provencal Cuisine tour was fantastic.  Emily has an in-depth knowledge of Provence, and it shows.  From the accommodations to the daily excursions, everything was top-notch and well-planned.  We had a very small group, only 3 of us and Emily; it felt like we were on a fun girl's trip.  She invited her son and husband to dine with us on several occasions, which made us feel like we were friends of the family.  The truffle tour was a unique, educational, and gourmet experi…"
"REVIEW: My wife and I love to travel. One of our favorite ways to explore new areas includes finding the best local guides for one day tours of larger urban areas but mostly hiring driver guides for multi-day trips thru large regions of a country. We always wanted to explore Provence so finding that perfect drive/guide was essential. My search found Emily of Your Private Provence. Although I could write a short story on our trip with Emily I will try to keep it short. PLANNING: I always work…"
"Christmas Cheer Tour 2023 The Christmas in Provence tour was absolutely wonderful. After traveling with you on the lavender tour several years ago, I knew the trip would be well planned and include delicious food, but I wasn't sure it could match those days among the beautiful lavender fields. Once the tour began, I quickly realized that the Christmas in Provence tour was going to be fabulous! The trip included such a diverse variety of historical and cultural activities in settings from lar…"
""Experiencing the lavender fields of Provence was just part of a fabulous week with Emily. From truffle hunting, olive oil tasting, wine tasting, visiting hilltop villages, to lovely breakfasts at an idyllic B&B, casual picnic lunches, and first class dining, Emily provided us with an off the beaten path adventure of a lifetime. Her knowledge of the history of the area made for an educational as well as rewarding and fun trip. She was well organized and such a delight to travel with in her…"
""I spent time on Google and found Emily’s Lavender Tours. Not wanting to drive this time around, Emily seemed to be the perfect solution. I wanted to spend some time in Sault, the lavender capital of Provence, as well as showing my family all Provence has to offer since most had never been there: Roman ruins, beautiful hill towns and incredible scenery, markets and lovely villages, castles and flowing rivers. Once our dates worked out with Emily and she got to know my preferences, we spent lots…"
""Emily set-up an incredible getaway! We chose France for our honeymoon (I’ve been dreaming about Provence for years) and my husband stumbled upon Emily’s website. Wow, we are so happy we found her. After a Skype chat, we knew we made the right decision in going with Your Private Provence. She was flexible, sweet, knowledgeable, and accommodating from the very start. In the beginning, we filled out a form so she could determine what kind of experience we were looking for: museum/history heavy…"
""Emily led me on a week long tour of the Luberon, her home, in Provence. Based upon my interests and ideas and her local knowledge, Emily created the itinerary for our week. Each day was crafted as a logical driving loop to explore a portion of this magical place. Emily’s expertise allowed me to experience what I was seeing as a 'temporary local'.  I would never have gained such an in-depth understanding as a tourist on my own. And I would never have seen as much each day if not for her expert…"
