Sometimes you really need a vacation, time to relax but also be inspired. The Lavender Lifestyle Tour is designed for you to settle into your luxury B&B, savor the tastes of the markets, the regional wines, & local olive oil. A time to connect with the slow Provençal lifestyle and the people who will share their craft, art and story with you. Of course we don’t stop there because the lavender is in full bloom. Explore lavender fields where earth meets sky, the lavender rolling up hills with Medieval villages in the background, and off-the-beaten-path spots for getting pictures showing secret Provence. Time to get away to let your senses be renewed.

Lavender lifestyle tour featuring lavender fields in full bloom

Tour Notes

The B&B is situated in the Luberon region, surrounded by vineyards and the scrubland forests.  Evening strolls on the grounds are dreamy.  The pool, summer kitchen, the comfort of your room and terrace…all is inviting you to unwind and live the Provencal lifestyle.

The tour takes place during the peak of lavender blooming. We will have lavender fields on every route and many opportunities for pictures in both the popular spots and also the more secret spots.

Itinerary

Day 1 (Monday, June 30)
Gordes, France cobblestone walkway with valley view

Pick-up around 10:30 at the Avignon TGV train station (or at your Avignon hotel should you arrive the day before).  We kick off the week of slow travel and inspiration at the vibrant sound & light show at Carrières de Lumière.  Here music and art will surround you in the former rock quarry.  Then on to tracing the footsteps of Van Gogh in Saint Remy with a picnic lunch on the site before visiting the asylum.  We’ll arrive at our « heaven on earth » B&B in the Luberon around 4 pm.  Relaxing time to take in the beautiful estate and settle into a magical week in Provence.  Dinner outing at a small village gourmet bistro in Goult.

Picnic Lunch & Dinner included

Day 2 (Tuesday, July 1)
top ten places to visit in provence

It’s market day in Gordes.  The morning is yours to enjoy at your leisure with market shopping, strolling, or perhaps a little photography to capture this idyllic Provencal setting.  Then we move across the valley to a Luberon AOC winery for a tour revealing both the historical anecdotes and the aromas.  Catered lunch at the winery.  The later afternoon is yours to soak up the luxury B&B atmosphere as you desire.  A memorable dinner outing awaits us in Bonnieux.  Our drive to dinner will take us by lavender fields for some pictures with the setting sun.

Winery lunch & gastronomic dinner included

Day 3 (Wednesday, July 2)
lavender ice cream

Our first village today in Roussillon.  Here we’ll explore the ochre rich lands learning about the industry that shaped the village and landscape.  Then we make our climb to the High Provence Lavender region.  At the crest, we stop for lunch at a gourmet bistro…in the middle of nowhere.  Then on the the lavender distillery and farm to learn all we need to know about lavender.  Sault is the lavender capital of Provence, and before our descent back down to the Luberon, we’ll make a little stop in the village for a little ice-cream treat.  After a busy day, nothing better than relaxing poolside this evening with local rosé and gourmet alfresco goodies for dinner.

Countryside bistro lunch & alfresco dinner at the B&B

Day 4 (Thursday, July 3)
Lourmarin village

It’s prime time for tasting summer truffles and this morning we have an appointment with a truffle hunter and his dogs.  This is educational, fun, and oh so gourmet (did I mention all you want champagne?!).  The charming village Lourmarin isn’t far and we’ll be sure to talk about the powerful lords who rules here and built their Renaissance chateau.  R&R back at our luxury B&B until our dinner outing.  We’ll be going back to Gordes…(you’ll see more of Gordes without the market going on and also with the soft evening light).  Dinner to follow our evening village stroll in Gordes.

Truffle hunt tasting & Dinner included

Day 5 (Friday, July 4)
Fontaine de Vaucluse

Magical morning walk along the Sorgue River at Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and then on to the lively town, L’Isle Sur la Sorgue.  Legends and a rich industrial heritage make this area of Provence unique.   Then on to a reputable hotel and restaurant for a mini-cooking lesson with a Michelin chef.  This 3-hour workshop will teach us some tricks from one of France’s top chefs. After savoring our creations and enjoying a refreshing glass of wine in a beautiful setting, we’ll top off any lingering appetite back at the B&B with Provencal treats and wine by the pool.

Lunch & Dinner included

Day 6 (Saturday, July 5)
tiny car in French village of Oppede-le-Vieux

One of the quieter villages in the Luberon is close to our B&B,  This morning we’ll walk the cobblestone to the ruins of the chateau at the top, learn the fascinating anecdotes of why the « old » village was abandoned.  Our gourmet activity today is around olive oil.  Next to the olive groves, in a Mediterranean garden, we’ll partake in a workshop to make our own blend of olive oil.  Naturally, an olive oil lunch to follow.  Last day for R&R at our luxury estate…then off to our farewell dinner in the village Menerbes.

five star review
""For my first time in Provence I decided to hire a guide. It’s not something I normally do but I didn’t want to be bothered with driving and trying to find my way on my own. I didn’t want to waste precious time because I had so little there. We had several conversations via email in advance of my visit about what my interests are and what I wanted to get out of my time with her. Emily showed me some wonderful places for photos and a little off the beaten path Abbey that was a lovely way to..."
""Thank you Emily! I have to say this was one of the highlights of our stay in Provence. I will always remember that day and it was made possible because of your connections. Otherwise we would not have experienced that glorious day. It was such a “provencal” thing to do!!"Doris and Vanessa Cotric, Montreal "
""Christmas has come and gone. New Year’s too. Today is the Epiphany, the 12th day of Christmas. Many of us will start to de-Christmas our homes or already have. But we learned from Emily that the Christmas season in Provence starts Dec 4 and lasts until Feb 2. Emily shared her passion for Provence with us, its customs, traditions and stories. She even had little quizzes for us so we wouldn’t forget or get them all mixed up! LOL She planned every detail to perfection to make sure we had the be..."
""Thank you, Emily, for all your help in arranging my trip and transporting me before and after the tour.  Also, the tour was so special.  I enjoyed it all.  You are a great guide to all the special things, places, foods, and experiences in this area of Provence."Diane Logon, Florida"Our group consisted of six women and one very brave gentleman with of a wide range of ages, backgrounds, personalities, and abilities. ""What an amazing trip! I booked a space on a small group tour with Emily and Your Private Provence at the last minute and wasn’t sure what to expect. It turned out to be the trip of a lifetime.Emily created an outstanding itinerary, with just the right combination of interesting activities balanced with time for relaxation. The accommodations were quite unique and very comfortable. Your Private Provence allowed me to experience the region in a way I would never have been able to arrange o..."
""A traveler is always faced with this secret dilemma…..once you have experienced the perfect tour, in the perfect place, arranged  by the perfect host, do you tell the world or do you try and keep it a secret just a while longer?Such is my dilemma having just returned from that 'perfect' week in Provence. I have decided to be magnanimous and share.  After all, the world needs as much 'perfect' as it can find right now.Emily’s Private Provence could just as easily be named Emily’s Perf..."
""Thank you so much for all you did to make our trip to Provence EXTRA special!  Rosamond, the Babbs, the Murfees, and the Youngs all had a grand time and loved our whirlwind tour of the Provence area.  It was a special treat to have a guide who knew the area so well, as well as someone we could understand!  We felt like we were with an old friend!""Emily, Thank you for driving and guiding my friends and me around Provence.  You are charming, knowledgeable and punctual and we all enjoyed o..."
"Emily introduced me to a Provence that went beyond the photo stops along the way. I saw the region in the pride of the farmers who sold their products in the markets, the love of the truffle farmer and the olive oil producer for their land, the care that a top chef takes to make each entree perfect for the diner, the joy of the innkeeper to assure that every guest felt like family. But most of all, I experienced Provence through Emily’s eyes - a woman who still marvels and delights by how for..."
"We had an amazing girls trip in Provence! Emily created a magical itinerary with activities such as market days and private cooking lessons, hikes, wine tasting and seaside lunches. There was enough downtime that the days didn't feel rushed or overscheduled. The accommodations were lovely, the restaurants were top notch, and we felt safe the entire time. She helped us feel comfortable with the culture and language and helped us practice our French if we wanted. She explained a lot of local cu..."
""As we contemplated our first visit to Provence to identify a village that we might return to for an extended stay, we wanted to slow travel through several small villages with nearby vineyards.Prior to our trip, Emily created a customized itinerary to best meet our interests and needs.  To start our week together, Emily met us at the train station and then proceeded to comfortably drive us through the 2-lane backroads of Provence helping us to discover the magical villages of Provence, t..."
