Itinerary

NOTE: This is an example itinerary.

Day 1
  • Pick-up at either Marseille Provence Airport or Avignon TGV Train Station.
  • Transfer to your choice accommodation
  • Half-day tour possible before transfer to your lodging depending on arrival time
Day 2
  • Luberon hilltop villages and luscious valleys…today we embark on a journey to the villages on the hills, the castles and churches standing proudly at the top, and the remnants of ramparts still apparent in the circular layout of the village. On the routes there are many amazing vistas points and we’ll make some gourmet stops as well (wine, olive oil, & crystalized fruit)
  • Return to your lodging and dinner on your own
Day 3
  • The Alpilles region gets its name from the mountain range running long and narrow and jagged at the top like the Alpes (Alpilles means « little Alpes). Here we trace two different time eras: the Romans and Van Gogh. Along the routes, we can also incorporate wine & olive oil
  • Return to your lodging and dinner on your own
Day 4
  • Before leaving Provence to your next best destination, one more day in Provence to explore what interests you the most. Perhaps you’d like to taste the famous Côtes-du-Rhône wines and see the villages that give the names to the Cru wines (Gigondas, Châteaneuf-du-Pape, Seguret).
  • Or perhaps you’d like to see the Camargue region to photograph the flamingoes, white horses, and the mosaic of textures in Europe’s largest river delta (not to mention it’s also a UNESCO wildlife reserve)
Day 5
  • Transfer to TGV train station or Marseille airport
    • Possibility to have private transfer to Nice should you be interested in exploring the Côtes d’Azur

five star review
""From the moment we met, Emily made us feel at home in Provence! Her careful selection of wine tastings and restaurants were exactly what we were looking for.  Thank you, Emily, for making our 10-year anniversary trip exactly what we wanted it to be."Michael & Lauren, San Diego, CA"
""I spent time on Google and found Emily’s Lavender Tours. Not wanting to drive this time around, Emily seemed to be the perfect solution. I wanted to spend some time in Sault, the lavender capital of Provence, as well as showing my family all Provence has to offer since most had never been there: Roman ruins, beautiful hill towns and incredible scenery, markets and lovely villages, castles and flowing rivers. Once our dates worked out with Emily and she got to know my preferences, we spent lo..."
""The beautiful, relaxed culture of Provence makes it an ideal vacation spot for first-time guests and return visitors alike. As a return visitor, I reached out to Emily to see some of the hidden treasures I was on unable to see during my first visit. She asked me what I enjoyed, what I wanted to see most, and how I’d like to spend my time. From there, she tailored an itinerary specific to me.She was able to encompass all I requested and made excellent suggestions! I had an incredible t..."
""We had the trip of a lifetime with Emily! She was friendly, fun, very knowledgeable, bilingual and a very safe driver. She took us to some of the most picturesque places in Provence and even accompanied me to the doctor’s office for an emergency, AND was my translator with the doctor! She went above and beyond! Her kindness and expertise were 5 stars. We did not want to rent a car because we didn’t know the roads and having her in the driver’s seat in her beautiful van made the journey stres..."
"Emily's Lavender and Photography Tour is, as stated, a private, and I would say INTIMATE, experience in Provence.  From the first evening in L'Isle sur la Sorgue everything about the tour is carefully crafted to create a sense that one has become "at home" in Provence.  The accommodations at the converted stone farmhouse are comfortable and well appointed, creating an intimacy that speaks of "part of the family."  In addition to breathtaking venues for photography, each day provided a creativ..."
"Emily introduced me to a Provence that went beyond the photo stops along the way. I saw the region in the pride of the farmers who sold their products in the markets, the love of the truffle farmer and the olive oil producer for their land, the care that a top chef takes to make each entree perfect for the diner, the joy of the innkeeper to assure that every guest felt like family. But most of all, I experienced Provence through Emily’s eyes - a woman who still marvels and delights by how for..."
"Emily, your planning from where, when and why to our overnight accommodations could not have been more perfect! The Provence region is a must see for anyone who is interested in history, breathless scenic views and amazing food and wine all of which you delivered to us on a silver platter.  You were an exquisite host.  I wish you many more successful years hosting future visitors to your part of France. Sallie Sullivan, North CarolinaOur group of 8 women had such a dreamy tour with Emily..."
""Emily led me on a week long tour of the Luberon, her home, in Provence. Based upon my interests and ideas and her local knowledge, Emily created the itinerary for our week. Each day was crafted as a logical driving loop to explore a portion of this magical place. Emily’s expertise allowed me to experience what I was seeing as a 'temporary local'.  I would never have gained such an in-depth understanding as a tourist on my own. And I would never have seen as much each day if not for her exper..."
""For my first time in Provence I decided to hire a guide. It’s not something I normally do but I didn’t want to be bothered with driving and trying to find my way on my own. I didn’t want to waste precious time because I had so little there. We had several conversations via email in advance of my visit about what my interests are and what I wanted to get out of my time with her. Emily showed me some wonderful places for photos and a little off the beaten path Abbey that was a lovely way to..."
"Emily has an easy-going style that is friendly and accommodating. She delivered above expectation on all aspects of the tour, from market visits, accommodation, stops of interest, and restaurant choices. It was a positive and enjoyable way to see Provence for the first time.Martha Gingerich, CA The great sights and diverse immersive experiences that only a local will know better but not all can provide as well. The flavorful good food and lovely lodgings reflective of the rustic charms ..."
