Itinerary

NOTE: This is an example itinerary.

Day 1
  • Pick-up at either Marseille Provence Airport or Avignon TGV Train Station.
  • Transfer to your choice accommodation
  • Half-day tour possible before transfer to your lodging depending on arrival time
Day 2
  • Luberon hilltop villages and luscious valleys…today we embark on a journey to the villages on the hills, the castles and churches standing proudly at the top, and the remnants of ramparts still apparent in the circular layout of the village. On the routes there are many amazing vistas points and we’ll make some gourmet stops as well (wine, olive oil, & crystalized fruit)
  • Return to your lodging and dinner on your own
Day 3
  • The Alpilles region gets its name from the mountain range running long and narrow and jagged at the top like the Alpes (Alpilles means « little Alpes). Here we trace two different time eras: the Romans and Van Gogh. Along the routes, we can also incorporate wine & olive oil
  • Return to your lodging and dinner on your own
Day 4
  • Before leaving Provence to your next best destination, one more day in Provence to explore what interests you the most. Perhaps you’d like to taste the famous Côtes-du-Rhône wines and see the villages that give the names to the Cru wines (Gigondas, Châteaneuf-du-Pape, Seguret).
  • Or perhaps you’d like to see the Camargue region to photograph the flamingoes, white horses, and the mosaic of textures in Europe’s largest river delta (not to mention it’s also a UNESCO wildlife reserve)
Day 5
  • Transfer to TGV train station or Marseille airport
    • Possibility to have private transfer to Nice should you be interested in exploring the Côtes d’Azur

five star review
""We had found Emily Durand on the web and had a wonderful time corresponding with her while preparing a detailed itinerary based upon our interests and requirements. She was very prompt and very precise in her responses which we liked very much. She was even more pleasant in person and we throughly enjoyed spending ten days with her in Provence. She knew the area very well including hotels/B and Bs, restaurants ( my wife is vegetarian but that was no problem for Emily!), parking and getting…"
""From the moment we met, Emily made us feel at home in Provence! Her careful selection of wine tastings and restaurants were exactly what we were looking for.  Thank you, Emily, for making our 10-year anniversary trip exactly what we wanted it to be."Michael & Lauren, San Diego, CA"
"This is my third tour with Emily, so that alone says a lot. The itinerary is well organized and offers unique experiences. There is the right balance of activity and free time. Best of all the tours are fun!  You will laugh hard and eat well!! Eleanor Nazha, New York"
"This was our second tour with Emily and there is a reason. No one does small group tours with so much care as she. Unique accommodations, great food and good people. What more could one ask? Greg & Jill Carol, Florida "Emily’s Spring revival Tour was fabulous. If we had to choose one word to describe the tour it would be quality. This would cover all aspects of the tour from Emily’s Mercedes van to the outstanding accommodation, the delicious meals from picnics to fine dining restaurants…"
""I used Emily through Your Private Provence to help me plan my small wedding/elopement and tours for my family while we were in the area. The experience went so smoothly in the amazing hands of Emily. She offered several options from vendors for the ceremony, restaurant choices, lodging, and tours throughout the Provence region. She thought of details for the wedding and the tours that would not have even crossed my mind! She was always in touch and responded promptly. She took into consi…"
"Emily's Lavender and Photography Tour is, as stated, a private, and I would say INTIMATE, experience in Provence.  From the first evening in L'Isle sur la Sorgue everything about the tour is carefully crafted to create a sense that one has become "at home" in Provence.  The accommodations at the converted stone farmhouse are comfortable and well appointed, creating an intimacy that speaks of "part of the family."  In addition to breathtaking venues for photography, each day provided a creative…"
""Emily was our favorite guide during our 2 weeks in France. She was so personable, taking us to favorite places and making Provence come alive. We loved our vineyard picnic, our tour in Arles, wine tastings, lunch at La Madison de la Truffe, and visits to local villages and markets.Wonderful memories for my daughter and I thanks to her special care!"Marcia & Terri Hannig, Colorado"
"Emily has an easy-going style that is friendly and accommodating. She delivered above expectation on all aspects of the tour, from market visits, accommodation, stops of interest, and restaurant choices. It was a positive and enjoyable way to see Provence for the first time.Martha Gingerich, CA The great sights and diverse immersive experiences that only a local will know better but not all can provide as well. The flavorful good food and lovely lodgings reflective of the rustic charms of…"
"We had an amazing girls trip in Provence! Emily created a magical itinerary with activities such as market days and private cooking lessons, hikes, wine tasting and seaside lunches. There was enough downtime that the days didn't feel rushed or overscheduled. The accommodations were lovely, the restaurants were top notch, and we felt safe the entire time. She helped us feel comfortable with the culture and language and helped us practice our French if we wanted. She explained a lot of local cust…"
""Christmas has come and gone. New Year’s too. Today is the Epiphany, the 12th day of Christmas. Many of us will start to de-Christmas our homes or already have. But we learned from Emily that the Christmas season in Provence starts Dec 4 and lasts until Feb 2. Emily shared her passion for Provence with us, its customs, traditions and stories. She even had little quizzes for us so we wouldn’t forget or get them all mixed up! LOL She planned every detail to perfection to make sure we had the best…"
