Tour Notes

We all know too that driving in a foreign land can turn the best trip into the worst trip.  Your honeymoon guided tour provides you with transportation from beginning to end to save you from all the wrong turns.

The Honeymoon in Provence Tour is specially designed to give you plenty of time alone but also gives you the comfort and authenticity of being guided by a local expert.

Itinerary

NOTE: This is an example itinerary.

Day 1
  • Afternoon pick-up up in Avignon – TGV train station with arrival on train from Paris (for a full French honeymoon experience I suggest starting in Paris and ending in Nice…Provence in the middle of course)
  • Upon arrival guided walking tour of the historic center of Avignon and then drop-off at your Relais & Chateau.
  • Gastronomic dinner at the hotel
Day 2
  • A leisurely morning at your chateau hotel. When you are ready, your driver/guide will take you on a tour to two Provencal villages: Nyons and Grignan. The drive between these two villages is lined with lavender fields should your tour take place in June or July.
  • Discover artisan made products, cobblestone lanes lined with roses and the biggest Renaissance chateau in Provence.
  • Gastronomic lunch at Michelin star restaurant can be arranged.
  • Evening to enjoy at your luxury hotel.
Day 3
  • Morning drive to the Luberon region where the hilltop villages stand proudly in the vineyard and lavender valleys. Explore the heritage and beauty with your guide before arriving at your next luxury B&B.
  • Settle into your accommodations, enjoy the pool, countryside walks, the sun setting down on one of the most beautiful villages in France; Gordes.
  • Romantic dinner on a terraced restaurant looking out over the Luberon valley.
Day 4
  • It’s market day and you have free time to explore at your leisure. Remember to buy your gourmet market food for your alfresco dinner poolside at your luxury B&B…nothing is more enjoyable than nibbling on French specialties and sharing a bottle of local wine as the sun sets over the gardens and pool.
  • Before evening arrives, your driver/guide will pick you to take guide you through more of the Luberon villages. A photographer can join us today and to capture a « A day in Provence » for your honeymoon album.
  • Alfresco dinner at your luxury B&B
Day 5
  • Relaxing morning at your hotel OR wake-up early for a hot air balloon ride.
  • The afternoon excursion could be a guided electric bike ride through medieval villages, vineyards and olive groves.
  • Dinner outing at authentic countryside restaurant very popular with the locals.
Day 6
  • Departure from your luxury B&B in the Luberon region for a switch to the vibrant city of Aix.
  • On they way south, we’ll first stop for a guided truffle hunt which includes a gourmet tasting and all you want champagne.
  • Arrival in Aix early afternoon to meet your local city guide who will reveal the secret stories and hidden charms of Aix. Check-in to your luxury hotel in Aix and free evening to enjoy either lounging by the pool or strolling the charming city streets.
Day 7
  • It’s your last day in Provence and what better way to spend it than by connecting to nature along the Mediterranean shores near the famous Calanques. These unique limestone fingers jetting out into the sea never cease to amaze and your exploring can be arranged by private boat tour, kayak or by hiking.
  • Evening free in Aix at your leisure
Day 8
  • Transfer to Aix TGV train station for your next adventure
    • Possibility to have private transfer to Nice (with a stop in Saint Tropez) to continue your honeymoon along the Côtes d’Azur.

Activities & Sites Included

Your itinerary will include all the best of places to kiss, see a sunset, dine together, stroll the countryside and just be together.  This is your honeymoon so you will also be catered to just a little bit more than the usual guest.  Your Private Provence will create unique and memorable moments for you: a surprise picnic for two when you least expect it, roses for her – chocolates for him and spa moments arranged for you to enjoy together.

“The insider tips from someone who has actually done it is huge. The market days, the picnics, the restaurants, the bike ride, the tours…we would’ve missed a lot of these options if we went on our own. It was especially beneficial because we trusted and really liked Emily. She led us well and set us up for a successful and enjoyable trip. Things were set-up, yet we still felt there was a lot of flexibility. We had time on our own but contacted Emily when we had questions. That alone was very helpful. As soon as we left Provence for Paris, we were really on our own and we missed her!”

five star review
"To say our tour with Emily was perfect would be an understatement. The amount of thought and preparation Emily puts into her tours is astounding. Her easy going nature and good humor sets the tone for a group dynamic that is relaxed and fun. Each experience and meal lived up to the description and left us feeling as though we truly experienced "real provence." Not to mention Emily's transportation and interpretation services alone made the tour worth it. We will definitely return! Cristi &…"
"This is my third tour with Emily, so that alone says a lot. The itinerary is well organized and offers unique experiences. There is the right balance of activity and free time. Best of all the tours are fun!  You will laugh hard and eat well!! Eleanor Nazha, New York"
""We recently returned from France and wish to leave a few comments on our experience. At the top of my bucket list is a visit to Provence France. My husband and I are not world travelers and were somewhat hesitant about this trip, we were anxious about almost everything, the language, the travel and the fact that we were in a foreign country. Despite all these concerns we bite the bullet and decided to go for it. We booked a package with My Private Provence. Much to our surprise and delig…"
""Our guided trip with Emily was different from the typical tour of Provence. We wanted the trip to mostly involve hiking, but still give us an opportunity to spend some time in small villages. Each day we hiked somewhere and in the evening we were on our own to explore the various towns we stayed in.  Provence is a wonderful place to hike. In the north it looks similar to Colorado with exceptional scenery. Emily appeared to know every trail. We avoided the 'tourist' areas, usually hiking withou…"
""Despite being a frequent traveler, I am not a usual writer of reviews. But this case, deserves one. My wife and myself just spent 5 days in French Provence. This trip was our first to this gorgeous part of France. We were suggested various tour operators. Finally chose the person I will describe for the speed and care she devoted during the pre-engagement phase, very different from the others. If you are looking to visit the region and wanting a guide that really knows the place and its int…"
""I can not recommend Emily highly enough.  I knew from the moment we started planning our Girls Trip to Provence together that she was going to make our trip so memorable. The attention to detail in planning our wonderful week in Provence was so appreciated and covered incredible fun filled days of exploring Provincial Markets, Private Wine Tastings, Eating, Drinking, Shopping, Cooking up a storm in a Michelin star restaurant, exploring stunning French villages and even cruising the French R…"
"Emily has an easy-going style that is friendly and accommodating. She delivered above expectation on all aspects of the tour, from market visits, accommodation, stops of interest, and restaurant choices. It was a positive and enjoyable way to see Provence for the first time. Martha Gingerich, CA The great sights and diverse immersive experiences that only a local will know better but not all can provide as well. The flavorful good food and lovely lodgings reflective of the rustic charms of…"
""Emily, thank you for giving us a wonderful day touring poppy fields. Over the years, I have admired paintings of fields of poppy flowers and you made my dream come true. It was a picture perfect day. Thank you for finding my fields of dreams!" Mary Adam, Michigan"
"Emily's Lavender and Photography Tour is, as stated, a private, and I would say INTIMATE, experience in Provence.  From the first evening in L'Isle sur la Sorgue everything about the tour is carefully crafted to create a sense that one has become "at home" in Provence.  The accommodations at the converted stone farmhouse are comfortable and well appointed, creating an intimacy that speaks of "part of the family."  In addition to breathtaking venues for photography, each day provided a creative…"
""Thank you so much, Emily, for two wonderful days exploring the Luberon region and Cassis.  You were a wealth of information, and we learned so much from you. Our picnic outside of Gordes was delightful!  We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect guide.  We highly recommend you to anyone seeking an authentic cultural experience when in Provence."
