Sometimes you really need a vacation, time to relax but also be inspired. The Lavender Lifestyle Tour is designed for you to settle into your luxury B&B, savor the tastes of the markets, the regional wines, & local olive oil. A time to connect with the slow Provençal lifestyle and the people who will share their craft, art and story with you. Of course we don’t stop there because the lavender is in full bloom. Explore lavender fields where earth meets sky, the lavender rolling up hills with Medieval villages in the background, and off-the-beaten-path spots for getting pictures showing secret Provence. Time to get away to let your senses be renewed.

Lavender lifestyle tour featuring lavender fields in full bloom

Tour Notes

The B&B is situated in the Luberon region, surrounded by vineyards and the scrubland forests.  Evening strolls on the grounds are dreamy.  The pool, summer kitchen, the comfort of your room and terrace…all is inviting you to unwind and live the Provencal lifestyle.

The tour takes place during the peak of lavender blooming. We will have lavender fields on every route and many opportunities for pictures in both the popular spots and also the more secret spots.

Itinerary

NOTE: This is a working itinerary; the final itinerary will be posted and provided to guests closer to the tour date.

Day 1 (Monday, June 29)
Saint Paul de Mausole

Pick-up around 10:30 at the Avignon TGV train station (or at your Avignon hotel should you arrive the day before).  We kick off the week of inspirational travel at the impressive Carrières de Lumière sound & light show in a former rock quarry.   Then on to tracing the footsteps of Van Gogh in Saint Remy with a picnic lunch on the site before visiting the asylum.  We’ll arrive at our « heaven on earth » B&B in the Luberon around 4 pm.  Relaxing time to take in the beautiful estate and settle into a magical week in Provence.  Village dinner outing in Goult.

Picnic Lunch & Dinner included

Day 2 (Tuesday, June 30)
top ten places to visit in provence

It’s market day in Gordes.  The morning is yours to enjoy at your leisure with market shopping, strolling, or perhaps a little photography to capture this idyllic Provencal setting.  Then we move across the valley to a Luberon AOC winery for a tour revealing both the historical anecdotes and the aromas.  Catered lunch at the winery.  Later afternoon is yours to keep cool by the pool or a nap under a tree.  Our evening outing takes us to Bonnieux for some amazing views with the soft light and a little pre-dinner stroll (lavender field pictures as well).  Dinner in the village Bonnieux.

Winery lunch & dinner included

Day 3 (Wednesday, July 1)
lavender ice cream

Our first village today in Roussillon.  Here we’ll explore the ochre rich lands learning about the industry that shaped the village and landscape.  Then we make our climb to the High Provence Lavender region.  At the crest, we stop for lunch at a gourmet bistro…in the middle of nowhere.  Then on the the lavender distillery and farm to learn all we need to know about lavender.  Sault is the lavender capital of Provence, and before our descent back down to the Luberon, we’ll make a little stop in the village for a little ice-cream treat.  After a busy day, nothing better than relaxing poolside this evening with local rosé and gourmet alfresco goodies for dinner.

Countryside bistro lunch & alfresco dinner at the B&B

Day 4 (Thursday, July 2)
Abbaye de Senanque

It’s prime time for tasting summer truffles and this morning we have an appointment with a truffle hunter and his dogs.  This is educational, fun, and oh so gourmet (did I mention all you want champagne?!).  The charming village Lourmarin isn’t far and we’ll be sure to talk about the powerful lords who ruled here and built their Renaissance chateau.  R&R back at our luxury B&B until our dinner outing.  We’ll be going back to Gordes…(you’ll see more of Gordes without the market going on and we’ll make the drive down the canyon to the iconic Abbaye de Senanque – after most of the tourist have left).  A surprise dinner in Gordes awaits you – views exclusively for us!

Truffle hunt tasting & Dinner included

Day 5 (Friday, July 3)
Oppede-le-Vieux

One of the quieter villages in the Luberon, Oppede-le-Vieux, is close to our B&B.  This morning we’ll walk the cobblestone to the ruins of the chateau at the top, learn the fascinating anecdotes of why the « old » village was abandoned.  Our gourmet activity today is around olive oil.  Next to the olive groves, in a Mediterranean garden, we’ll partake in a workshop to make our own blend of olive oil.  Naturally, an olive oil lunch to follow.  Before going back to the B&B to cool off by the pool, We make a stop at the Lacoste village viewpoint and then on to enchanting Abbaye Saint Hilaire.  Definitely off-the-beaten-path and always a very serene feeling with very few people who come here.  This evening you will be wined and dined by an amazing local chef who comes to the B&B to prepare us the best of his creations.

Lunch & Dinner included

Day 6 (Saturday, July 4)
Provence table

Magical morning walk along the Sorgue River at Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and then on to the charming town built by the river, L’Isle Sur la Sorgue.  Legends and a rich industrial heritage make this area of Provence unique.   Lunch will be Provencal tapas style at a quaint Epicierie in town.  This afternoon is our culinary workshop at Marie’s house.  This mini-cooking workshop will teach us how to make an impressive Provencal apero-dinner.  Simple but oh so Frenchy.  On our way back to the B&B (with our creations and other gourmandises Marie will have prepared for our poolside dinner) we’ll make a stop at a lavender field for those last soft-light-lavender field pictures.  Time now to savour our dinner creations…one last evening in Provence Paradise.

Lunch & Dinner included

"We booked Emily for a day trip to Avignon & the Pont du Gard. She was wonderful. She picked us up & dropped us off at our accommodation near Gordes. She accommodated all our requests to the point that the tour was extended at no cost. We had a lovely day visiting the main sites in Avignon and a lovely walk around the Pont du Gard. Her restaurant recommendations were terrific for both the day we spent with her and then her great recommendations for other restaurants in other towns we wer…"
""It was such a very special holiday for me. I just adored every moment and Emily made it so very special.Emily, thank you for being so accommodating with my challenging itinerary. Thank for being so knowledgeable and adding a layer of history and local insight that no guidebook could deliver. And finally, thank you for being so warm and engaging. It really felt like I was traveling with a dear friend. I could never have imagined it could be so good."Jane from Australia "
""We had a wonderful time exploring Provence with Emily as our guide! With her intimate knowledge of the region, Emily was able to weave into the itinerary places of interest for which we had made special requests, and was able to suggest good alternatives when necessary.Emily’s deep knowledge of Provence came through best as she led us through several little villages — the little nuggets of information she shared along the way certainly helped us appreciate much better the history of the pl…"
""I have recently returned from the Provence Lavender Photography Tour with Emily Durand of Your Private Provence and Raina Stinson of Raina Stinson Photography.  I highly recommend this tour!  Simply put, Emily and Raina guided our small group on a remarkable journey of discovery.  We visited lavender fields, explored medieval villages, gazed at the moon and stars.  We feasted on fresh produce and French bread from the village markets as well as gourmet fare at restaurants with breathtaking vie…"
""2019 Lavender Tour This tour exceeded all of my expectations! The small group size made it easy for us to get to know each other and each day was such a treat! Emily shared not only her love and knowledge of her adopted country but afforded us a glimpse into life in Provence. She introduced us to local chefs, farmers, and artisans and each was colorful and engaging and passionate about their chosen profession and excited to share with us. We visited beautiful villages and ate marvelous local f…"
""You are the sweetest and we enjoyed getting to know you. You are also a trooper – spending a week with a rowdy group like ours must not have been an easy task:). You did it, girl!"Tatiana"In addition to the email from Tatiana, I want to thank you for your kindness and sweetness and patience in making our honeymoon so very special.  You are a sheer delight."Miles"Tireless, warm, funny, delightful, lovely….I will run out of juice on my iPhone before I run out of adjective…"
""Nick and I had a wonderful two days touring Provence with Emily! She is just EXCEPTIONAL!!! Such a darling personality, a definite understanding of the history and culture of this region and such a nice way about her—she seems more a friend than a tour guide! We plan to stay in touch with Emily because we liked her so much!   Emily asked us about our preferences and interests so she could design an itinerary which was customized just for us. We spent the day together touring different villages…"
""If you want the best tour of Provence, choose Emily as your guide.  My husband and I enjoyed this years Lavender and Cultural Tour so much that the day before it ended I signed up to bring my 2 daughters next year!  As a local Emily knows the history of the towns we visited as well as the best places to explore, eat and shop. She has a nice group of friends – chef Giuseppina cooked a delicious lunch and Raina took beautiful photos of my husband and I in the lavender fields. There were so many…"
"Truffle, Cuisine & Wine Tour - 2024Yes, this is a food-focused week, which means excellent chevre, olive oil, truffles and plenty of good wine. But it's so much more. We checked out beautiful vistas, accompanied a farmer as he and his dog dug up some of the season's last truffles, visited a farmer's market, baked and cooked at the direction of talented chefs, and learned about Cezanne's testy relationship with his hometown of Aix. In between, we got to know Emily, who's knowledgeable ab…"
""I spent time on Google and found Emily’s Lavender Tours. Not wanting to drive this time around, Emily seemed to be the perfect solution. I wanted to spend some time in Sault, the lavender capital of Provence, as well as showing my family all Provence has to offer since most had never been there: Roman ruins, beautiful hill towns and incredible scenery, markets and lovely villages, castles and flowing rivers. Once our dates worked out with Emily and she got to know my preferences, we spent lots…"
