Flying into France
Book your flight to Marseille Provence airport (Marignane). This is the closest major airport into the heart of Provence (about a 45 minute drive). Other airports, based on your travel plans prior and after your Provence tour, include Paris Charles de Gaulle (2 hours and 36 minutes by TGV fast train) and Nice Cotes d’Azur (3 hours by car – transfer service available upon request).
TGV (fast train)
Many of you will want to visit Paris on your trip to France. I encourage this as a start to your Provence tour for two reasons. One, Paris is culturally rich and different from Provence adding to a well-rounded French experience. Two, this gives you time, at your own pace, to recover from any jet-lag you may have brought with you.
RailEurope.com makes it easy to reserve your tickets. Your destination from Paris will be Avignon Gare TGV (careful not to enter Avignon centre).
During your escorted trips you will be chauffeured in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle based on the number of people in your party. I research the best available rates for your rental car. You may also choose to be chauffeured in my 2012, 7 passenger Citroen C8 exclusive.
Travel insurance is necessary. Protect yourself against trip cancellation and other unforeseen incidents. Here are some well-established travel insurance companies:
Remember to inquire about worldwide trip protection and to do it immediately after paying Your Private Provence tour deposit.
